this painting reflects the loniness in the characters, in this aparently cozy space. One may think that when walking to this cafe may find someone new but the personal distances are so apparent that the individual may leave in the same way that it came.
About Marisa Martinez
Marisa was born in Bilbao (Spain) and currently lives in London, where has been living for the last 30 years. She began designing and painting at a very young age. She defines herself as an artist whose creations are sincere expressions of her soul. Her paintings vary in style depending of the inspiration, motives or circumstances that move her to create. The works range from the political to the expressive taking in feminist statements, abstract themes, cityscapes, and urban life ,spiritualism and impressionism.
BA(Hons) in Technical arts Design, Wimbledon School of Art, London , MA in Art Psychotherapy, Roehampton University, B-Tech in Public arts design, and Foundation course in Art& Design .City Literary Institute, London.
Marisa has staged solo exhibitions of paintings at First Out café gallery, Boland’s Bar, T-Bar, Queens wood cafe gallery, House on the Rock , Cambridge House, St Pancras and St George’s Hospitals London as well as a multimedia art installation at the electronic Gallery at the Studio in Beckenham, Kent. Solo exhibitions also include : Pedro Goirena, Teatro Arriaga, BBVA Bank, Bilbao, Spain.
Collective exhibitions: Dulwich gallery, Atlantis Gallery, St Pancras Hospital conference centre, Methodism Hall, Freeform Arts trust and contributed to a theatre design exhibition at the BAFTA in Picadelly, London.
At present, she is staging a solo exhibition at House on the Rock and a collective exhibition at St Pancras Hospital conference centre, London. In addition she is exhibiting online artwork at Marisa Martinez portal.

Marisa Martinez was the winner of the ‘Arte a la calle prize’ organised by Bilbao council along with the company Surbisa S.A. She was commissioned to work with a group of students (aged 18-25) for the Escuela Taller to execute the design and production of two murals onto two public buildings.
