UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
My work contains slightly varied elements which I integrate into an ordered, unified space through painting. I create relationships by placing one color next to another, and then one panel next to another. The results intrigue and surprise me. It’s a bit like seeing people at a fabulous party where different energies coalesce. The elements come into a state of unity or discord in unexpected ways.
Linda Rosenfield grew up in New York City where The Brooklyn Museum of Art served as her rainy day playground. Hide-and-seek in and around the mummy cases was a favorite game. A long time resident of the Tucson, Arizona area, Linda Rosenfield arrived in the Southwest in the late sixties, after having spent some time in Aspen, Colorado studying and teaching at the Center of the Eye. After obtaining a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1977 she taught classes at the Tucson Museum of Art School. Later on, she served as director of the Pima Community College Art Gallery on the West Campus where she also taught classes. Her work is in regional, national and international collections.
