Anxious & Ok- In the process of understanding & embracing my inner world- I have dealt with severe anxiety issues, inner chatter, and peace. I want to embrace all of those. Embrace series is about being okay with being anxious. It is about acceptance and yet pursuing the buddhist path.
Garima Tripathi is an Indian artist (Born. 1987) working in ceramic sculpture & mixed media installations, Her work is influenced by her
meditation practice and Buddhist teachings. She studied engineering as an
undergraduate (2006-1010) and then learnt pottery from traditional potters in
Mumbai, India. She later went to study at School of Museum of Fine
Arts(SMFA), Boston, to pursue her art interest. After SMFA, she was a visiting
artist at Harvard ceramics studio for 1 year. She has been a visiting artist & faculty at Ceramic Studio, IIT Bombay (India). Recently she completed artist residency with Ray Meeker at Golden Bridge Pottery in Pondicherry, India.
She is interested in creating architectural scale works. Most of her installations are in public spaces and institutions including ceramic studio at Harvard, Boston, USA and Industrial Design Centre at IIT Bombay, India. Her aspiration as an artist is to create works that can have silent but meaningful
conversations with the audience amidst the noise of life.
Her area of interest is the ‘Self’ / ‘No-Self’. Her influences are Buddhist teachings that emphasise the non-dual understanding of the world. Her art is an investigative process of inner world that can both give immense joy and suffering. The starting point of this path is retreat into self awareness and the outcome is an embracing of the world in a non-judgemental way. Hence her works deal with these two extremes of getting within in a pursuit of seeing the reality of the inner world and the other end of the spectrum in embracing the world.
She currently lives and works in Mumbai, India.
