Artwork Details

For my concept in this painting I solely based if off my passion about Latin American culture and street culture, I want to blend the two. I love creating a statement and I want to paint Latin people in acts of there daily life while doing what might seem casual but is a hardworking chore; that looks beautiful and powerful. I am inspired by the artist Kehinde Wiley who paints portraiture mainly of the black culture and the "field of power".
This is also a theme in my art I want to paint for future murals; so i am imagining these designs scaled for bigger surfaces. I am also going to use some inspiration from artist that go by Faile to focus on the background and use of typography and some wheat pasting. I want all my paintings to be bright in color. This piece ' Floating Market' is an image of a woman rowing a canoe in the waters of Lake Nicaragua. She works hard and the emotion in her face displays that; living in a rural village. She transports the beautiful fruit of her culture.

Artist Bio

Since I could remember I have been making art anywhere and everywhere . I was exposed to streets culture and graffiti at a very young age. In my earlier years an artist came to my school to paint a mural on the playground handball wall; every day I spent my lunch and recess watching her process and painting come alive. That’s when I knew I wanted to paint large-scale murals. In my late teens I was inspired by artist named Haas&Haan who create art for social change; and impact countries all over including a city named FAVELA in Rio De Jienero. Their whole purpose is to “build bridges between communities, urban planning and social design, create multifaceted social impact with lasting legacy” ( Favelapainting.com)”. This spoke to my heart and my sole purpose in life is to create murals in Latin countries. My heart is set in Latin countries because I am Hispanic and I grew up learning so much of my family culture from Nicaragua and I can see so much love in the people and endless possibilities in the street culture. I’ve traveled to Central America and South America, on my recent trip to Ecuador my dream came true!
