Located in Philadelphia, PA, these four acrylic on selectively-primed linen canvases, were created in 1973–75. They are professionally framed in 1" x 3" walnut. Specific interior frames may be removed to combine the four canvases into a single piece.
At the urging of Josef Albers —who recognized her strong sense of color and composition with which to begin— Deborah Curtiss changed her major to painting. Amazed by the challenge to one’s intellect that accompanies the sensual enthrallment with emerging colors and forms, her paintings evolved with a life of their own. Her chosen mediums include graphite and acrylics on linen and cotton duck canvas in which the surface is an integral part of the imagery. Whether the human figure, botanicals, or architecture, her paintings are created through a constructivist lens distinctly her own.
