Artwork Details

Kuhr incorporates some of the oldest known textile techniques including ‘Nålbinding’, also known as knotless knitting. This technique is a laborious process that involves passing the full length of the wire through each loop. An acient technique early used by the Egyptians and Danish Vikings.

Artist Bio

Bebe Kuhr is a San Francisco Bay Area artist who creates sculptural art. Exploring themes of cultural identity, mythology and global events she applies patterns and repetition as an integral part of her work. With the use of ancient techniques her work embraces ritual, tradition, and meditation through repetitive labor. This process allows me to absorb the thought process revealing the underlining meaning in the making of each piece. I continue to use these methods; it connects me to other cultures and expands my knowledge by opening up boundaries.
